National Volunteer Appreciation Month–Dan Colby
Apr 14, 2016
Dan Colby understands the impact of volunteering on the community. He has been an active volunteer for nearly thirty years. His efforts began as a charter member of the Lyman Lions Club where he served as its first secretary. He later filled roles as treasurer and president during his tenure. Later, he began volunteering as a scout leader in Lyman for over ten years. Dan has also been a Little League coach, a football coach, and a youth sports official. Dan has spent many years devoting a lot of time in organizations involving the development of youth. He enjoys seeing many of the youths grow to become solid citizens in the community.
In more recent years, Dan Colby’s volunteer efforts have been centered around local community organizations tied to the business community. Those include board positions with the Biddeford-Saco Chamber, the Northern York County YMCA, Counseling Services, Inc., and the York County Community College Business Advisory Board. He has also been a member of the Saco Bay Rotary Club for over twenty years.
“I enjoy giving back to the community, it gives me great satisfaction to pay it forward,” says Dan. I have had so many experiences in my lifetime where people have stepped up to help me and/or my family with any number of things that it just feels right to do my part to help others in any way I can.”
Dan continues to be involved with the Saco Bay Rotary Club, York County Community College, Junior Achievement and currently serves as the Finance Chair of the York District Committee of the Boy Scouts. Thank you Dan for everything that you do. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to the community!
