Committed to Our Community
At Biddeford Savings, giving back to our customers and our community is a long-standing tradition. As a mutual bank, we feel a strong commitment to our customers and look for opportunities to invest in the communities we share. Over the years, we were able to contribute to many organizations that benefit the community in meaningful ways both through financial contributions and employee volunteerism. Thanks to an outpouring of support among bank employees, we’ve donated more than $13,000 to United Way in 2014, contributed food and gifts to needy families, helped seniors and students develop financial-management skills, sponsored youth and literacy programs and much more.
Here are a few examples of how Biddeford Savings has helped support our community:

A Community Feast
When the Annual Feast of Generations needed financial support, Biddeford Savings stepped into ensure the continuation of this special holiday event.
For several years, we sponsored the Adopt-A-Family holiday program, gathering food and gifts for the elderly and local families in need. Bank employees worked all year raising money for the program through car washes, casual dress days, bottle drives, and more. Their enthusiasm was contagious and customers got into the spirit as well, contributing generously to our food and gift drives.
Community Bicycle Center
When the Community Bicycle Center (CBC) proposed a musical fundraising event, Biddeford Savings geared up to help. With a significant donation we helped the event organizers meet two important objectives: raise funds to support CBC programs for disadvantaged youth in the community, and to promote downtown Biddeford-Saco as a cultural destination. The concert helped benefit the entire community. Most notably, it helped at-risk youth develop problem solving skills, self-confidence and a sense of achievement through bicycle repair and then share what they’ve learned with others in a continuous cycle of hope.
Music on Main Street
Our lunchtime concert series, Music on Main Street, does more than make beautiful music. Since we started in 2006, the bank and our community partners have raised over $60,000 for local charities through the event. Our original goal was to draw people to Main Street to discover downtown attractions. The idea blossomed and has drawn a devoted audience. As champions of business and the arts, we are delighted with the response and its impact on the community.
Scarborough Concert in the Park
Biddeford Savings is a proud sponsor of Scarborough’s summer concert series each year. What’s not to love about free concerts in the park? Last summer the Scarborough Community Chamber welcomed seven musical performers on Thursday nights at the gazebo at Scarborough’s memorial park. Enjoyable evenings were had by all – providing opportunities to kick back and enjoy the show, reconnect with friends, or simply relax in the park and take in the care-free evenings of summer.
Saving with Mandy and Randy
We’re proud to sponsor two financial-education programs offered through area schools. Saving with Mandy and Randy gives second-graders a head start on developing good savings habits. Students learn to identify coins, add and subtract cents and dollars, make savings deposits and withdrawals and more.
How To Do Your Banking
How To Do Your Banking is a curriculum supplement for high school students. The program gives young adults the chance to practice money management in the classroom where mistakes won’t cost real dollars. Through our sponsorships, we hope to give students the tools they need to build a secure and successful financial future.
